The Finale of French Speaking Drama and Poetry Translation in the region of Northeast China was held at the French Culture Center of Changchun Normal University on March 13, 2021.
The event, sponsored by the Consulate General of France in Shenyang, organized by Changchun Foreign Affairs Office (CCFAO) and Changchun Normal University, and supported by Changchun Delia Food Co., Ltd., is meant to promote people-to-people, cultural and educational exchanges between China and France. The contestants are mainly from Changchun Normal University, Northeastern University, Dalian University of Foreign Languages and Jilin International Studies University. The winners selected in the region of Northeast China will compete with their counterparts in national finals.
In the role play round, the contestants presented the modern life of youth in the classical Art by famous French playwright Yasmina Reza. The teams of Northeastern University, Changchun Normal University and Jilin International Studies University won the first, second and third prizes.
In the translation round held in the afternoon, the contestants competed for three modern French poems, and shared their perceptions about the background, writing style, the writers’ ways of expressions and the skills used in translation. The top three places went to the teams of Dalian University of Foreign Languas, Bohai University and Changchun Normal University.
During the event, Ou Shuo, Deputy Director of CCFAO, also exchanged views with the consul general of France in Shenyang on promoting cooperation in economy, trade, industry as well as people-to-people, cultural and educational exchanges between Changchun and France.
Background: The Finale of French Speaking Drama and Poetry Translation in the region of Northeast China is part of the activities sponsored under the framework of the 25th Month of French Activities on the themes of songs, dramas, films and poems by the Embassy of France in China as an effort to popularize French culture and promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges between China and France.
